I found this quite appropriate for my last Famous Last Words post. It’s as if the sun is setting on this semester and it’s very bittersweet. I have enjoyed this class immensely, but I’ll be glad to be done with it. The coursework for this class is quite hefty and I was not prepared mentally to be as creative and write as much as was required. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t struggle in this class this semester to keep up. However, I have learned so much and seen some really cool things. I have also discovered that my fellow classmates are so creative and there are so many different personalities out there. From Star Wars Weapons to WWII stories to things told from a gossip columnist point of view, there was never a dull read in this class. Title: Pumpkin Pie Source: Flickr I chose this image because pumpkin pie is  my favorite thing about Thanksgiving! Two weeks left! Where has this semester gone? I feel like it went by so fast. Faster than any other semester has gone before. I guess I should be thankful for that, but at the same time, I feel like I’m no prepared for the end of it! For my reading this week I decided to look at some stories of Buddha. I think this was the name I recognized the most coming into this class. However, I knew nothing about him really. So, I think it was interesting to learn a little bit more about the Buddha. This week I wrote a new story based off the Giant Crab story. I had a hard time being creative this week so I really don’t think that the story is up to par with the rest of the stories that I have written this semester. However, I did at least do it. And there is something there. I find it hard to write less than 1000 words for these stories. I don’t know how people c...

Famous Last Words…… I think these have become my favorite assignments. They give me a chance to reflect and review how my progress has gone. I think it’s good for me to do a weekly check in as the semester is so close to being over. This week, I had an accounting test. I got an 89% on it. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but pretty dang good considering I did not study as much as I had intended to. I feel since dropping the two other classes I had this semester, it’s more manageable to finish out the semester strong. To me, the grades are more important than the graduation date. I’m still on the fence if I’m going to apply for the Master’s program yet, so I need everything on my side for when it’s crunch time. For this class, I have 106 points left to earn to get an A. I have 122 points available that I can earn. So…in theory I might actually be able to get an A in this class. I know it’s not supposed to be about the grade, but more the learning experience, but I need all t...

I must say, this week has been rather productive. I have been able to do quite a bit of work in this class and catch back up. Still not 100% there, but I feel that it's not as overwhelming now. I'm in a good place and might still be able to pull off an A in this class if I can get my life together! I think that doing multiple weeks assignments at the same time, keeping similar types together, has really helped me catch back up. When I’m in the groove of commenting, I just go with it and comment until my little heart and fingers can do no more. However, if I keep going on it, then I can get six or so assignments done at the same time and that’s a lot of points that I’ve earned back. Also, have I mentioned how much of a life-saver the extra credit has been for this class? Without it, I would have failed a long time ago and been so screwed. So this week the plan was to catch up now that my course load is significantly less. I can say that it’s a relief to not have that class weighing down on me. I have found for this class a strategy that I hope will carry me through to the end of the semester and get things done a little easier. The strategy I’m going to try and use is to group similar assignments together and complete them for several weeks in a row. For example, I did week 11 and week 12 reading all at the same time. It helped to be in the groove on one assignment and just keep going with it. Same with the commenting on blogs. It’s hard for me to be social and comment on blogs. I don’t use social media so the whole commenting thing is a foreign concept to me. I’m also brutally honest and I’m terrified I’m going to offend someone with my straight and to-the-point comments. Needless to say, I find it easier when I’m in the flow of leaving comments on people’s blogs/stories, to do a whole bunch of them all at the sa...

Picture taken from my phone Coffee is my happy place for sure! This week has been quite an adventure! I dropped one of my classes and I can’t say that I’m sad about it. Taking an evening class from 6:30pm-9:20pm after having two classes right before is rough! I also felt that I wasn’t successfully handling the material for the course. The only thing that stresses me a bit about dropping it is that it will push back my graduation date. This week I also went through the hiring process at work for a different job. I had three grueling interviews and was stressed the whole dang week! After it was all said and done, I was not selected for the position, but I made it into the top two applicants so I feel pretty good about that. My partner, the one who was chosen for the position, was at least a worthy opponent so I can’t be too upset that I wasn’t selected. And at the end of the day, I still have a job that pays well and I get 6 days off every other week! It could be a lot wors...

Wrapping up this week officially signals the halfway point in the semester. It has gone by so quickly yet seems like this semester is dragging on. Usually at this point in the semester my grades are a little more on sturdy ground. I will have to work my butt off the next several weeks to get them back to where I’m comfortable with them. I was finally able to catch back up in this class and for the most part, have been able to stay on top of the assignments this week. I say this at 11:30pm on Sunday night! However, I did have better time management this week and knew that I had a lot going on and to start early. I was able to knock out half of the assignments in one morning which freed up time to work on other assignments during the week. I had a work conference in Tulsa on Tuesday, a full day at work and school Wednesday, parent teacher conference Thursday, and two birthday parties to attend this weekend. I can already tell that this semester is going to be super challenging for me. I'm only two weeks in and am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I decided to take 12 hours this semester because I want to graduate so bad it's not even funny. Now I'm rethinking that choice. I'm really hoping that it's just because I took the summer off and am trying to adjust back into the routine of things. It also hasn't helped that work has been a nightmare these last few weeks. I have a very large assignment that I've been working on that takes up most of my time. Even having to go in on my days off to work on it. I love time sensitive work projects....said no one ever. I think the thing I really need to figure out for this semester is a schedule that works well with the rest of my life. Juggling the family, work and school will be the challenge. And I really need to stop procrastinating! It gets me every stinking time. I wait until last minute to do anything and then stress mysel...
