Reading Notes: Epified. Krishna: Part B

For this assignment, I chose to watch the Epified Krisha videos Part B

You can find a list of these here!

11. Krishna Humbles Brahma
This one talks about how Krishna was eating with his friends by the lake. When Brahma saw this, he didn't understand. He then kidnapped Krishna's friends and all the cows. Krishna then recreated his friends and the cows from himself so that the villagers wouldn't be upset. A year had gone by and when Brahma returned, he saw all the Krishna was capable of. He then dropped to his knees and asked Krishna for his forgiveness.

12. Krishna Rides Hastin
In this story, Hastin is the bull in town that everyone is scared of. Krishna says that he is going to ride the bull by the end of the month. No one believes him. Krishna spends the next month in the stables with the bull everyday. He gets closer and closer and even feeds the bull treats. At the end of the month, Krishna is able to get close enough to get on the bull and ride him. The villagers are shocked. But they learn that kindness is the greatest strength.

I feel like this could be retold as a western of some sort and there is an orphan kid that breaks in the bronco that no one wants to take the time to train. Like Black Beauty or any other number of horse movies.

13. The Saviour of Dharma
Krishna wanted to get married. When his parents told him no, they took him to the town priest. The priest told him that he was not able to be married because he was the savior of the world. The one all the prophecies spoke about. Krishna was very sad to find this out, but knew that he had to do as his destiny told.

This could be set in medieval times where a prince or princess was hidden away to protect them and they fall in love with a villager. When they want to get married, they find out that they can't because they are royalty and must return to their kingdom to rule.

14. Akrur Invites Krishna
In this video, Kuntz throws a party in one last attempt to defeat Krishna. The prophecy told that Kuntz would die by Krishna's hand. Akrur came to invite Krishna to the party and told him what the real reason behind it was. Krishna's parents didn't want him to go. But Krishna reminded his parents that it was his destiny to do this.

15. Krishna's Farewell
When all the villagers found out that Krishna was leaving, they all became very sad and begged him to stay. Krishna told them it was his duty to go. When they were on their journey, Akrur stopped the wagon so that he could wash his face. When he dipped his head in the water a second time, he said Vishnu in the form of a snake as the reflection of Krishna in the water. This scared him.

16. Krishna Arrives at Mathura
When Krishna arrived in the city, him and his brother walked all over and got to know the people. Soon, stories of how kind he was quickly spread. An old lady had lots of ailments and was told that someone would come to the village and heal her. She approached Krishna and begged him to heal her. When he saw the love in her eyes, he hugged her and healed her. Word then got back to his evil uncle, Kuntz.

17. Krishna Kills Kuvalayapida
The evil king Kuntz planned to use a battle elephant, Kuvalayapida, to kill Krishna. He placed the elephant at the entrance to the arena so that it was smoosh Krishna and his brother. However, when they arrived and the elephant charged him, Krishna defeated it like it was nothing. Kuntz then became afraid and knew that all his attempts to kill Krishna had failed.

18. Krishna Kills Kamsa
After they defeated the elephant, Kuntz sent his strongest men to fight them. Again, Krishna easily defeated them. Krishna then walked towards the center of the arena. There was a divine bow that no one had been able to lift (kind of like the sword in the stone!) Kuntz ordered his army to kill them, which of course didn't work. Krishna and his brother killed Kuntz.

19. Freedom for Mathura
After defeating his evil uncle, Krishna went to the dungeon and met his grandfather and set him free. Next, he went to the prison where his real parents were kept. He then freed them and crowned his father the new ruler of the kingdom.

20. Dwarka - Krishna's Kingdom
When Kuntz's allies found out that Krishna had killed him, they vowed his revenge. Krishna asked his father if they could move the people, but the father said that would only make them cowards. Krishna begged a create architect to build them a new city, it was known as Dwarka. Everyone moved here. Krishna became king of this new city.
